Picking the perfect spot for a first date can be difficult, not to mention stressful! We always recommend grabbing a drink at a bar or a coffee shop for a first date -- this way, the date can last one drink, but can also easily be extended if things are going well! Here are a few of our favorite local spots with fantastic atmospheres for a first date!

Bathtub Gin & Co.

​A quaint cocktail bar built in an old hotel’s boiler room, Bathtub Gin & Co. has tons of seating in its multi-level lounge area. They specialize in prohibition-era cocktails and have an incredible selection of gin from around the world. You can have a simple classic drink or, if you’re feeling adventurous, ask the bartender to whip you up one of their favorites! This dimly lit bar is the perfect spot for a first date with its delicious drinks, romantic atmosphere and intimate seating.

Canon

An incredibly unique bar with a retro atmosphere and bottle-lined walls, Canon has America’s largest spirit collection at 4,000 labels and counting! This is a perfect bar for a first date because it is a small space with many individual tables that allow for great conversation. They are also great at not letting the bar get overcrowded, so you can usually have a comfortable chat without feeling overwhelmed. Additionally, the bar is great for any season with in-door and outdoor seating. If you get a little hungry, you can also try their globally inspired bar bites!

Bottlehouse

If you are looking for a great wine bar, look no further than Bottlehouse! This quaint bar has a revolving menu of incredible wines from the Pacific Northwest and around the world. They are particularly known for their large selection of local, boutique, and natural produced wine. The cozy space is filled with wood and plants and, with plenty of outdoor seating, it is the perfect date spot for a nice day. But, not to worry, in addition to plenty of large umbrellas, there are heat lamps scattered throughout the patio, so even on a chilly night you can enjoy the outdoor seating. The casual yet sophisticated spot also serves delectable cheese and charcuterie to pair with your wine

Foreign National

This is probably the most obscure bar on our list, which makes it all the more special! Foreign National is run by Stateside, an incredible Asian-fusion restaurant we would definitely recommend, and it is located right next door. This bar is pretty unknown outside of locals because the only indication that it is there is a small logo on the front door and, on busy nights, a short velvet rope and bouncer to maintain the line. The bar itself is small and lit primarily by a disco ball, making for an interesting and intimate setting. This is a great spot for a date because of the close quarters, dim lighting, and fun vibe. Like Stateside, the bar serves globally inspired snacks and drinks. We would recommend trying a cocktail from their “Seasonal & Explorative” menu to get the full experience from this quirky spot!

Liberty

Located in a relaxed modern-rustic space fill with couches, Liberty is a great spot for a first date. The whole bar is just comfortable and cozy, making for a great setting for a quality conversation. Additionally, they have an extensive collection of liquor and are particularly known for their craft drinks, which they make with juice pressed fresh when you order it! Additionally, in a unique twist on bar bites, they serve sushi along with their drinks, making it a great spot for you to grab a quick bite along with your drink
